After a few negotiations with track owner Ron Nielson, an agreement was reached for Dan McDonald from Girard, Pa to be the new promoter for RACEWAY 7 in Conneaut,Ohio for 2010. The McDonald family has been a staple at RACEWAY 7 for over 30 years with father Percy racing in the 1970s and Dan and brother Percy competing for the past 20 years in the Thunder Car, Steel Block and Emod divisions. The family owns McDonald Meat Market and also McDonald Sand and Gravel ..both in Girard, Pa.
The divisions of race cars to be competing weekly will be the FASTRAK LATE MODELS, EMODS, STREET STOCKS, and CHALLENGERS(MINI STOCKS). The former ENDURO STOCK division will be incorporated into the CHALLENGERS with the mandatory addition of a four point roll cage inside the cockpit. The previously announced BOMBER class for 2010 will be on hold until further notice. The Super Late Models, Big Block Modifieds and 410 and Limited Sprints will possibly make special appearances in 2010.
All the general division rules will be in effect from past years. The STOCKS will be allowed to race an 8″ or 10″ wheel and must weigh 2900 pounds regardless of engine size. Further discussions regarding the STOCK rules will be held at a meeting to be announced later on.
The on track rules will change whereas if a car stops on the track at anytime on any lap the car will go to the tail. Transponders will be recommended and the RACECEIVERS will NOT be used for 2010.
The season will open with two practice nights on FRIDAY APRIL 23rd and FRIDAY APRIL 30th and the first green flag of 2010 will be on FRIDAY MAY 7th. A complete schedule for 2010 will be forthcoming soon.
